Personality: At school, Hayato is adored by many of the female classmates who view him as the "rebellious badboy." During Valentine's Day, a large group of females constantly followed him around trying to give him chocolate, although Hayato seemed to be more annoyed than flattered by this. Despite his image of a rebel, Hayato excels in his schoolwork and aces all his tests. This is probably due to his rich upbringing, suggesting that he probably had a multitude of private tutors when he was young. He loves the piano and plays it exceptionally well. He is head strong but exceptionally brilliant and very stubborn.

History: Gokudera was born the illegitimate son of a wealthy mafia member in Italy. However in the mafia such transgrations were not allowed and it was stated that Gokudera was born of the Man's real wife. Gokudera's real mother was allowed to come visit Gokudera three times a year and in each visit she played the piano for him, sparking his interest in the piano. When he was three years old there was a car 'accident' in which his real mother was killed. However he only knew her as the piano lady.
When Gokudera turned 8 while he had became exceptionally good at playing the piano he overheard one of the servants gossip about the truth about his mother. Upon learning this truth he ran away from home and attempted to become a hitman for one of the local mafia families. However as he knew litle more skill wise than playing the piano, he wasn't taken anywhere. In due time he met his family's old doctor who to his surprise was also a hitman. While Gokudera pleaded the man to teach him as his student the doctor instead taught Gokudera to use dynamite as a weapon. While learning to use the dynamite Gokudera ran into a creature infected by a 'firefly' shard. Although he was able to kill off the animal with his dynamite the shard from the animal was blasted out and imbedded into his arm, just a little above the wrist.
After about 4 years he went off to find his own way and slowly began to learn what the shard was doing to him. Along the way he ran into a small kitten that was licking the wound from being hit with a shard itself. Understanding it's confusion he named it Uri and brough it along with him. The two eventually found themselves among the Ukiyo and began their work to become respeted by their peers.
